When It Comes...

A bill of more than $10 billion to clean up oil gushing from BP's U.S. Gulf well could be small compared to costs the disaster adds to producing oil offshore in coming years, enough to push world oil prices higher. - Reuters.com (image as well.)

This is only the most recent headline I've stumbled on to, but they're everywhere. Drab and drastic headlines that seem to be increasing in numbers. They're getting harder and harder to ignore. I can't help but feel, with pressing urgency, that if or when the world goes belly up, I want to be some where safe, defendable and abundant in resources.

Some will brush you off saying you're crazy or one of those conspiracy guys, but I mean read the news.

Some topics I skimmed this past week (5/8/2010): riots in Greece, Greek economy could cause severe world economic hardship, failed car bomb in NYC Time Square possibly linked to Al-Qaeda, massive BP oil spill in the Gulf threatens sea life and lively hoods of FL/LA, gas prices expected to raise, US Stock Market plunges followed by immediate sharp spike, continued staggering US unemployment rates.... Oh and climate change of course.

I mean really?! Geez, the only thing missing are Zombies!

In the 1930's just before the Great Depression, how do you think a person would fair if they lived on say, 10 acres of rural land, with a house big enough to hold a few families comfortably, where they could farm? They would be able to protect it from the crooks as well as the dangerously desperate. Each person would bring skills and labor to support a safe way of life.

Yes... I know what you're thinking. Sounds like some Hippie crap. Well, brush all that aside. What were talking about here is logic. LOGIC. The world looks like its in rough shape. If it gets any rougher, we could all be in dire times. And if nothings happens, the world stabilizes enough to live out another 1,000 years of awesome, then we have a cool house and land and a few great friends to live with.

I don't mean we should start farming right away, but we should at least be seriously thinking about it, if not already acting.

Just in case...

Hello World

Hey everyone! I'm going to give this blogging thing a try. I started out with LiveJournal and Myspace, moved onto Facebook and am now ready for something a little different. Something with a little less "this is how I feel today" and a bit more news, a few more reports and lot of content.

I'll present new tech and gadgets, national and world news and other interesting articles. I'll keep it going as long as it's of interest and enjoyable for me.
